Duranta erecta Also known as the Golden Dewdrop due to the berry it produces- this is an evergreen flowering shrub in the Verbena family- also related to the Bleeding Heart and Lantana plants- sharing the same ability to provide a great nectar source for a number of pollinators. The unripen berries are eaten by Songbirds but are highly toxic to most other types of animals including children and pets. Once ripened the berries are edible.
