Please note that our hours may occasionally change due to weather conditions. Even outside of summer, South Florida can bring passing rain or brief storms. We always strive to remain open and welcome guests whenever possible. If the weather looks uncertain, please feel free to call us at 954-977-4434 before your visit — we’ll be happy to provide an update.
BEVERAGE POLICY
For the health of our butterflies and birds, outside drinks—excluding water—are not permitted. We kindly ask that you finish your coffee or other beverages before reaching the entrance.
Note: Exceptions are made for bottled water and any liquids necessary for infant feeding.

Please note: Some GPS devices may direct you to other areas of Tradewinds Park. We are located on the south side of Sample Road.
1/26/26: Apple Device GPS Issues
Apple Maps is directing users to the wrong location. Please make sure you’re entering Tradewinds Park on the south side of Sample Road. If you see horses, you are on the opposite side of Sample Road. Turn around, go back to the traffic light at Sample Road, and go straight ahead. You will see signs for Butterfly World. We apologize for the inconvenience and want you to know this has been reported.

DIRECTIONS
Butterfly World is located 10 miles North of Fort Lauderdale in the city of Coconut Creek. It is easily reached via Interstate I-95 (Exit 39) or the Florida Turnpike (Exit 69).
From I-95 – Exit 39: Head west on Sample Road. Travel approx. 3 miles. Turn left to enter Tradewinds Park, and continue on the park road for 1/3 of a mile to the entrance to Butterfly World.
From the Florida Turnpike (SR 91) – Exit 69: Turn left onto Sample Road. Stay in the left lane. Tradewinds Park is within approx. ¼ mile. Turn left to enter Tradewinds Park, and continue on the park road for 1/3 of a mile to the entrance to Butterfly World.
From the Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869) – Exit 19: Take Exit 19, Lyons Road. Travel South on Lyons Road approx. 2 miles to Sample Road. Turn left onto Sample Road. Stay in the right lane. Turn right into Tradewinds Park.

IMPORTANT: Hours are subject to change due to weather without notice. In the event of extended inclement weather, we will issue a rain check at our discretion. REMEMBER OUR PARK IS MOSTLY OUTDOORS!!!
- Heavy Rain/Thunderstorms: Not much flying, with lightning butterfly aviaries close temporarily until the weather improves. High possibility of early closure especially in the afternoon.
- Light Drizzle/Cloudy: Most larger butterflies will still fly, smaller butterflies may be resting; less activity than normal. Low possibility of early closure.
- Normal Windy: Activity is normal; butterflies & birds will fly!
- Cold Weather (below 60 degrees Fahrenheit): Most butterflies will not fly– a great day for pictures, lots of perching on leaves and resting. Birds will be very active!
- Sunny & Warm (above 60 degrees Fahrenheit): Best day for lots of butterfly activity. Butterflies are heat-loving, cold-blooded animals, the hotter the better!
Weather varies greatly from city to city and even street to street in Florida. Just because the weather may not be good where you does not mean that’s the case in Coconut Creek! Be sure to call us if you have any doubts regarding our hours, butterfly activity, etc.

Butterfly World is 100% wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at $5.00 + tax for up to two hours. Availability is limited, so please plan accordingly.
